"By launching the Cheviot Balanced Fund, the Cheviot disciplined investment strategy is now available to investors in a single OEIC." William Buckhurst, Investment Manager
The Cheviot Balanced Fund is a ‘fund of funds’ that aims to provide a balance of income and capital growth, through investing in a sensible spread of externally managed funds from some of the leading investment houses in the world.
Our independence allows us to select the most appropriate funds in the marketplace, without any affiliation to, or over-reliance on, one single investment house.
We meet face to face with every third party manager with whom we invest, and subject them to a lengthy due diligence process before investing. We place a strong emphasis on fund managers who display good stock selection skills within their particular markets. Once invested we monitor and review performance and portfolio construction on a regular basis.
Given the economies of scale that the fund has, we are able to invest in some top-performing managers who would be out of reach to the average investor because of their high minimum investment level.
The Fund is managed by a highly qualified and experienced investment team, and draws on the expertise that exists within Cheviot at selecting externally managed funds. William Buckhurst is responsible for manager selection and the day-to-day running of the fund, and Alan McIntosh is responsible for asset allocation decisions. David Miller, in his role as Head of Alternative Investments, advises on the selection of alternative investments, such as hedge fund of funds and structured products.
Benchmarked against the FT APCIMS Balanced index, both income and accumulation shares are available. There is a minimum investment level of £10,000 and the annual management charge is 1.5%.
